Inviting to Islamic events

How DO we invite our professors, colleagues, classmates to an islamic event without feeling awkward and shy?

Here is a sample email you can send a prof. When you write something to one of them, post it inshallah in the comments (P.S.: email content/style should vary with your and your prof’s personality and interests, so be creative and post us something in your style!)

Subject: Invitation to a Special Event

Dear Professor James Thomas:

Thank you for providing us with the lecture notes online. It really helped us and made it easier for us to study.

Professor, I would like to request the honour of having you visit my club’s special event. It is scheduled on October 17th. Please come if you can. There will be an informative lecture on the Muslim sacred month of Ramadaan, and a question-and-answer session on Islam.

Fasting has been a practice of the Muslims, and of the nations of past times. God says in our holy book, the Qur’an:

“O you who believe! God has perscribed fasting for you as He prescribed it for those before you, that you attain piety.” (2:183)

And He also mentions:

“So, as for those who believed in God and held fast to Him, He will admit them to His Mercy and Grace (i.e. Paradise), and guide them to Himself by the Straight Path. (4:175).

Please grant us the honour of your presence. We would be more than happy to receiveyou for our special occasion. May God keep you in the shade of his Mercy. Amen.

With best wishes and sincerity, your student,

Sana Ansari

    Yo, Lana!

Hows it going? Guess what? The YFS and MSA club is screening a hit movie “The Legacy of the Prophet”. If you’ve ever wanted to learn islam and the last prophet, you might want to attend their event this week, on Oct 17th.

Optionally, If you sign up for fast-a-thon, you can sponsor a child in africa for a buck AND ….

    Dear Ellen,
May the Peace of God be upon, His Mercy and His Blessing. Ameen.

It’s nice having you in my class to discuss calculus with. It has helped me a lot; the concepts look clearer and I’m doing the homework at a faster pace. Thanks!

As per our discussion about Islam the other day, I think a particular social event will really interest you. It’s about Ramadhan. There’ll be an informative lecture, a question/answer session, and other Muslims to meet! You may even converse with the scholar if you like (i.e. the speaker of the event).

Ramadhan has been celebrated by Muslims for many centuries and has included many activities, like fasting and optional night prayer.

    I have attached the flyer.

So, as for those who believed in God and held fast to Him, He will admit them to His Mercy and Grace (i.e. Paradise), and guide them to Himself by the Straight Path.
    (The Qur’an, Surah An-Nisa, 175).

    Hope to see you there!

Your friend, truly and always/yours sincerely/yours with love and care/yours truly/yours with care/etc.

    Sana
